Thank you, PatternFly team

Building a complex enterprise solution like Talisman Platform is always a balance between developing software ourselves and reuse existing components. Early-stage startup resource limits protect us from reinventing wheels. Selecting the right components could be crucial for our path.

I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to the amazing team behind PatternFly projet. PatternFly is an open source design system and extensive palette of components with elegant design that enables to create consistent enterprise products. Team commitment to quality, detailed documentation, and the seamless user experience they provide have made all the difference in our project's success.

Thanks to PatternFly, we've been able to create an appealing user interface for Apache Camel Karavan and terrific dashboards for our product Talisman Platform.

Kudos to the entire PatternFly team for your exceptional work!

Topology Dashboard Metrics

We're thrilled to announce an exciting new feature in Talisman Platform, inspired by the insightful feedback from our great supporter Richard Stroop during last demo session for partners. This innovative addition is designed to enhance the user experience by combining critical metrics from the dashboard with an integrated topology view, offering a comprehensive and high-level diagram of routes orchestration. This feature aims to streamline the way teams visualize and manage their integrations, making it simpler to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize workflows.

Key Benefits

  • Enhanced Visibility: See at a glance how your integrations are performing, with key metrics overlaying the high-level integration diagram.
  • Improved Troubleshooting: Quickly identify bottlenecks or failures in your integration routes by correlating metrics with the corresponding points in your topology.
  • Streamlined Monitoring: Access all the information you need in one place, reducing the need to switch between tools to understand your integration health.

How It Works

The integration topology visualization provides a bird's eye view of your entire integration ecosystem. Each node and connection represents different systems, services, and the data flows between them. Overlaying this with real-time metrics from the dashboard, users can monitor throughput, latency, error rates, and more, directly within the context of their integration architecture.

This means that, for instance, if there's an unexpected spike in latency or a sudden increase in error rates, you can immediately see which part of your integration landscape is affected. This context-rich information empowers teams to make informed decisions quickly, ensuring smoother operations and a better end-user experience.

Logs in Dashboard

Developing a product while using it alongside a customer creates a constant feedback channel from the field. This channel evaluates ideas and gives insights to generate new ones.

It doesn't have to be revolutionary change all the time, but constant enhancements that simplify integration. Hence accelerate project timelines, cutting down development and operational costs.

For instance, a small tweak like providing a direct link to open container logs from the Dashboard can make a significant impact. It's the kind of improvement that helps identify and resolve issues in seconds.

Dashboard is ready

A significant milestone on the way to the Talisman Platform GA release!

We have started testing the Dashboard feature with our first customer. The Dashboard was created as part of preparation for production usage. Observability and monitoring were required to rest assured that integrations are up, running and doing their job. As a result integration microservices created with Talisman Platform provide health check, metrics and telemetry out-of-the-box.

Now, with the Dashboard in action, you can visually track the heartbeat of your integrations, empowering you to stay in control and make informed decisions.

We're grateful for the collaboration and feedback from our first customer, propelling us closer to the Talisman Platform's GA release.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to refine and enhance the Talisman experience!

Topology

The best thing about building a product in a startup is working with early adopters. Getting fast feedback, being able to build/redesign/implement new stuff and try it on real use-cases makes development easier.

Working directly with end-users as a consultant in a customer integration developers team has been a real game-changer. We use Apache Camel Karavan and Talisman Platform together to build and manage integration microcontainers. We eat our own dog food. It's not just a catchy phrase; it's a practice that keeps our development cycle rapid and ensures we're creating solutions that actually matter.

Topology view was born as part of my onboarding process. Faced with a real project featuring dozens of integration routes spread across various files. It was quite a challenge to understand what logic was implemented there. To tackle this, we crafted a top-level diagram illustrating only the routes, their relationships, and connections with external systems.

The impact was clear in the next project onboarding – it streamline the process to mere minutes, eliminating the need for extensive explanations from fellow team members.
